CSA Week 1: Strawberries after all!

There was a good bit of sun yesterday, enough to allow 1 pint of strawberries per individual share! Not enough to make a pie, but enough to enjoy. Most of the berries in the field are still quite green, but with some careful looking we found our enough to fill our pint.

So, today's haul:

  • 1 pint strawberries
  • 1/2 pint sugar snap peas
  • 4 heads lettuce (assorted varieties)
  • 6 stems Sweet William flowers
  • Assorted herbs of choice (one bunch of each type; we did not pick herbs today)
I think I've already explained that we have an "individual" share for our 3-person household. A more expensive "family" share would yield roughly twice as much produce. We thought about getting a family share this year- I'd certainly have welcomed a quart of strawberries and a pint of snap peas, but what would we have done with 8 heads of lettuce? Four will keep this small family in salad for the week.

I'll let you know how we use it up!
