Check it out! Where the blossoms have fallen off, pea pods are forming! Up close, I can already see the tiny bumps that will swell into delicious peas.
I've heard that birds like peas, so tomorrow I'm going to drape the plants with some bird netting. We give them lots of seed and suet- they'll just have to be content with that.
In other news- we've eaten the sugar snaps from the farm, along with 1 head of lettuce. Last night we had a big Greek-style salad and garlic bread; tonight it was a Chinese chicken salad minus the chicken and plus some fried tofu.
The recipe for the Chinese chicken salad is one I made up. I think it lends itself to lots of variations to suit individual tastes. Here's how I made it tonight:
