First of the season: Spinach

We were away for a few days, and came home to find the veggies in the raised bed really taking off. In addition to the radishes, the peas are finally starting to climb their trellis, and the spinach needed some thinning. There aren't enough spinach leaves from today's "harvest" to make a salad; it's really only a few handfuls. Instead, I think I'll make some panini for dinner tonight- roasted red peppers, mozzarella, spinach and a little garlic on whole-wheat baguettes.

Waiting for us when we got home was a yard full of dandelions gone to seed (ugh!) and a box from Burpee containing a few tomato and pepper plants I wanted to try this year. The peppers are anchos (poblanos), which I love- I'll be thrilled if I get a nice little harvest from those later in the summer. I bought two kinds of tomatoes- Razzmatazz and Honeybunch. More on those when I plant them.

In other news, it sounds like our CSA farm will be opening for pick-your-own strawberries and peas very soon- hooray!
